The History of Club Red

Club
Red began it's foray into comedic history when it was funded in 1998 by
the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Club Red began as the brainchild
of Peggy Berryhill as vehicle for the talents of Charlie Hill. Hill a
renowned stand-up comedian has appeared on Letterman and Leno. Charlie
was a staff writer for the Roseanne show and was featured on Moeshe. Charlie
is the inspiration and talented leader of Club Red and the Club Red Players.
Buffy Sainte Marie, the legendary singer, Oscar award winning composer, Sesame Street actor helped launch the first season of Club Red. Joy Harjo, Muscogee poet and jazz performer, Ojibwe rocker, Keith Secola and the incredible a cappella group Ulali were all featured on Club Red A special one hour concept program showcased the live performance of Navajo songbird Sharon Burch. The first season of Club Red was a Co-Production of the Native Media Resource Center and the Native American Public Telecommunications (www.nativetelecom.org) with funds provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (www.cpb.org).
